The Historic Pantiles and live Jazz on the bandstand

On a summers evening sit out in the traffic free area of the Pantiles, the historic heart of Tunbridge Wells taking in the mellow sounds of jazz on the bandstand. We will be sitting right outside the Ragged Trousers where we are not too far from either the bar or the music. We will also visit the other Pantile pubs, the Duke of York and the Sussex Arms.

A Castle walk

Did you know that Kent reputedly has more castles than any other English county? This walk will pass by 2 of them and a Roman Villa. Starting from Eynsford, walking about 5 ½ miles passing Lullingstone. Pubs to be visited include the Malt Shovel (lunch), Five Bells, The Plough.

Cider Month

Cider has long been an important part of CAMRA and to encourage interest in real cider October has been designated cider month. Cider has been growing in popularity and Kent has a strong tradition of cider making which is distinctively different to the ciders found in the West Country. We will be trying to arrange a Cider Farm visit to gain interest in cider and the production process.

Fireworks in Rusthall

Following last year’s successful visit we return to the Beacon for its famous firework display in its wonderful extensive grounds. Afterwards walk into Rusthall for a visit to the pubs there. We will be travelling by 281 bus that leaves half hourly from Tunbridge Wells Railway station

Kent Regional Meeting

Every Kent branch takes it in turn to host the Kent Regional Meeting and this is our turn. It is a chance to hear how other Branches are doing, the latest news on Kent CAMRA beer festivals and news from pubs, breweries and all related news from around Kent. Also your chance to meet a member of CAMRA national executive and ask about any questions about CAMRA in the UK. As is traditional the meeting will be followed by a pub crawl, this time we are arranging a visit to the famous Queen’s Arms in Cowden Pound. It is a fabled gem of a pub known as Elsie’s to the locals. It is an unspoilt house that is features in CAMRA’s National Inventory (for information about the inventory click here). The public bar dates from the 1870s and has been little altered since.
