Tonbridge Tour

The recent tour of a few selected Tonbridge pubs was a great success, with one of the best turnouts for a mid-week social that most of us can remember. Visit to Castle Hill and Horsmonden

The last Saturday in September saw local CAMRA members visiting a part of the West Kent branch area that we don’t normally get out to. We caught the 297 bus out from Tunbridge Wells, alighting in the village of Brenchley. From here it was a short pleasant walk to the tiny hamlet of Castle Hill. On the way we were rewarded with some spectacular views across the Weald towards the Greensand Ridge. more….

Shoreham Pub Crawl
A wild and wet late July evening saw a handful of West Kent CAMRA members braving the elements for a crawl around the pubs of Shoreham. This pretty and attractive village is situated in the Darenth Valley, between Sevenoaks and Swanley, and despite its rather “well-heeled” nature, still manages to support four pubs.more…

Pub of the Year Presentation
The last weekend in May, and the first weekend in June were the occasions for two pub presentations to take place. The first presentation was for the West Kent CAMRA Pub of the Year winner, the Rose & Crown at Halstead, whilst the second was for the joint runner up in the competition, the Anchor at Sevenoaks. more…

Sunday 3rd May saw a small group of local branch members journeying over to what is one of the farthest-flung pubs in our branch area, but also one of the best. The pub in question is the Wheatsheaf at Marsh Green…more

Nelson Brewery Trip
On Saturday 25th April the branch visited Nelson Brewery who are based in the Historic Former Naval Dockyard in Chatham. Sixteen branch members travelled to Chatham by train and after a short walk through the town centre found ourselves at the impressive, entrance arch to the dockyardmore

South Tonbridge Social
The beginning of April saw the branch achieve one of its largest turnouts in recent years for a mid-week branch social. The event in question was a mini-crawl of the pubs in the southern part of Tonbridge….more

Borough Pub Crawl 28/3/2009
Despite a small turnout, 4 members to be exact, those that came had a great day visiting some of the historic and interesting pubs to be found in the Borough district of London….more

Westerham Brewery Showcase
Last night myself and fellow members of West Kent CAMRA visited the Anchor in Sevenoaks. The pub was hosting a three day mini-beer festival designed to highlight some of the excellent beers produced the local Westerham Brewery. more…
